21st Feb. 2009 - Car Update

Today was the day we were due to collect the 525. It would be fair to say excitement and nervousness were building with equal measure throughout the week. But in a very un-Swiss like manner - things changed - last minute!!

The car was to receive a fresh MFK - the Swiss equivilent of the MOT - just stricter. When it last failed, in Zurich, it failed on a the engine being a bit oily, some rust, and a few other bits and pieces. This time in Chur - they added tyres which were too old - front lower arms and tie rods! All these delayed the work in the garage.

The mechnics did all they could including putting on a set of winter tyres. But with 8500km the drone one winter tyres wasn't so appealing - so a quick search online and 4 Vredestein Sportrac 3s were ordered. Alas with an arrival date of 2nd March.

In the end Saturday was anti-climatic. We handed over the rest of the money - inflated by an extra 100CHF to cover the substantial amount of extra work that Mario (Pennella) had had to do. And we picked up the MFK pass and ownership documents - so I could go up to the registration office to get everything stamped and approved.

I couldn't resist the chance to snap a few pictures of the car as she sat elevated in the garage.
